Description

This Korean-Style Ground Turkey recipe is a quick and flavorful dish perfect for weeknight dinners. Ground turkey is cooked with aromatic garlic and ginger, then coated in a savory-sweet sauce made from soy sauce, brown sugar, and cornstarch, delivering a deliciously thickened glaze. Garnished with sesame seeds and chives, it pairs wonderfully with rice or steamed vegetables for a wholesome meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Sauce

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tbsp brown sugar
  • Red chili flakes (to taste, about 1/4 tsp)

Main Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 15 oz ground turkey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated

Garnish

  • Chopped chives
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, cornstarch, brown sugar, and red chili flakes until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Set this sauce mixture aside to allow the cornstarch to dissolve fully.
  2. Sauté Aromatics: Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for about 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently, until fragrant but not browned to release their flavors.
  3. Cook Ground Turkey: Add the ground turkey to the skillet. Break it apart using a wooden spoon or spatula. Continue cooking and stirring until the turkey is fully cooked and no longer pink, approximately 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add Sauce and Thicken: Pour the prepared sauce over the cooked turkey in the skillet. Increase the heat to high and continue cooking for about 2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and evenly coats the meat.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Stir in chopped chives for a fresh herbal note. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top before serving. Enjoy the dish hot, ideally served over steamed rice or alongside your favorite vegetables.
