Ingredients
Scale
For the Burger
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 4 hamburger buns (toasted)
- 4 large eggs
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 4 leaves lettuce
- 1 large tomato (sliced)
- 1 small red onion (thinly sliced)
- 1 tablespoon butter or oil for frying eggs
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Special Sauce
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
Instructions
- Prepare the Special Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup, sweet pickle relish, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and smoked paprika until well combined. Set aside to let flavors meld.
- Shape and Season Patties: Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and shape each into a patty. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper to enhance flavor.
- Cook the Burger Patties: Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each patty for 3–4 minutes per side, or until reaching your desired level of doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty and cover the pan or grill to melt the cheese perfectly.
- Fry the Eggs: While burgers cook, heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat and melt the butter or heat the oil. Crack the eggs into the skillet and cook until the whites are fully set but the yolks remain runny, or cook to your preferred doneness.
- Assemble the Burgers: Spread the special sauce evenly on the bottom halves of the toasted buns. Layer each with a leaf of lettuce, a slice of tomato, a cheesy burger patty, a fried egg, and some thinly sliced red onion. Top with the other bun halves and serve immediately while warm and flavorful.
Notes
- For extra indulgence, add crispy bacon or avocado slices to your burger.
- The special sauce can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to one week, allowing the flavors to deepen.
- Use a ring mold when frying eggs to achieve perfectly shaped, Instagram-worthy fried eggs.
